Development Prog on Remote Sensing commences

A week-long faculty development programme on "Remote Sensing & Geospatial Information System and its Implication in the Contemporary World" commenced from Wednesday at Modern College, Porompat.
The inaugural function of programme, which is being jointly organised by Modern College, Department of Geography and Internal Quality Assurance Cell under the sponsorship of Department of University and Higher Education, was held at the college auditorium.
Speaking on the occasion, School of Human and Environmental Science Dean professor Soibam Jeevankumar pointed out that as there is significant advancement in science and technology, teachers need to impart education to their students by.
using modern teaching methods for equipping them with new ideas.
Stating that faculty development programme is essential as the teachers need to be acquainted with various advancement in all fields, he expressed hope that the programme will enable the students become well educated and further help in shaping a good society.
Department of Physics assistant professor Elangbam Anushree, who was also present at the function, said that the programme has been organised to equip the teachers with the knowledge of Remote Sensing and Geospatial Information System as it has been newly included in the syllabus.
The programme will be conducted for a week wherein practical trainings will also be done.
Around 100 faculty members from different colleges are taking part in the programme.
