Kuki-Zo women check vehicles

In the wake of leakage of a confidential letter sent by Manipur police to the Assam Rifles, large number of Kuki-Zo women came out on Tiddim road at S Kotlien village area on Friday and checked every vehicle even as a CBI team planned to access Churachandpur district.
The confidential letter sent by IGP (Ops) IK Muivah addressed to IGAR (South), Mantripukhri informing that a CBI team will visit Bishnupur-Churachandpur border on Friday first emerged on a social media group named 'Kuki daily news at Nitin Thuso' and went viral as the same confidential letter emerged in different social media groups.
Accordingly, large number of Kuki-Zo gathered at S Kotlien village area along Tiddim road on Friday and checked every vehicle apparently to prevent entry of CBI team in Churachandpur district.
The confidential letter informed that a team of CBI will be visiting buffer zone in the border of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts for some investigation relating to the violence in Manipur on December 8 .
The letter also informed that CRPF have been handed the responsibility to take up security measures for the CBI team and also apprised the Assam Rifles to take up necessary security measures.
Notably, both the warring groups have been hurling accusations against each other for the communal violence erupted on May 3, 2023 .
People residing in the valley have been levelling allegations against Assam Rifles of siding with Kuki-Zo people in the violence while the latter have been accusing Manipur police of siding with the valley people.
