Imphal, April 22 2025:
Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association has submitted a letter to the chief secretary against the inclusion of the commandant in-charge of home guard in the recent transfer-posting order list of IPS and MPS officers.
In this regard, Association president Y Mangi said that the commandant of home guards is frequently replaced, hindering the welfare works of the home guard personnel.
Thus, a letter was submitted to the CS urging for exempting transfer of the commandant from the order.
He also mentioned the repeated demand of appointing a commandant general for the home guards under section 4 clause 1 of Manipur Home Guard Act-1989, which continues unaddressed till date.
Mangi said that the letter also contained demands for preparing the promotion guidelines based on seniority list; preparing the MGEL and access to various benefits including ration money, pension; and raising the DA to 39 per cent.
He then said that the current commandant has done a fantastic job in such a short period, and expressed his discontent over the transfer-posting of the excellent MPS officer.
