Speaking as chief guest of the function, DM College of Commerce principal professor Kh Rajen noted that except a few, most people had little knowledge of computers in the past.

Highlighting AI as an emerging technological skill, he said that while it can offer numerous benefits when used responsibly, it can also be harmful if misused.
The principal pointed out that India's skill index remains significantly low at just 4.9, compared to coun tries like Japan, which have a skill index of 80 to 90."To bridge this gap, we need to guide and encourage the youth towards skill development," he stressed.
Delivering the presidential speech, DM College of Science computer science department head G Jayantakumar Sharma stated that the observance programme was organised to promote skill development among the youth.
He noted that earlier, skill development was not a part of college education, which led to a situation where those who secured government jobs lived comfortably, while others remained unemployed and were unable to contribute to society.
However, with the introduction of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, skill development has been incorporated into the college curriculum, aiming to equip students with practical skills that can help them earn a livelihood and contribute meaningfully to society, he said.
The programme was also attended by DM College of Science Teachers' Association president and Department of Electronics head Ch Biren Singh as guest of honour.
