Saving Scheme account opening camp held

Imphal, January 22 2024:
All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) in association with DIPR, Directorate of Small Savings and Department of Posts organised an account opening cum awareness camp on National Small Saving Schemes and Postal Life Insurance Scheme at Manipur Press Club here on Monday.
The camp was organised as part of the series of activities being organised in connection with the yearlong celebration of AMWJU's Golden Jubilee.
IPR director Dr Th Charanjit, AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and Directorate of NSS director Rajenderkar Nongthombam attended the camp as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Charanjit explained about the National Saving Schemes, different policies under the scheme and benefits of cultivating the habit of saving.
He stressed on the reluctance people have on opening Saving Accounts in banks or post office, probably due to lack of information, and urged the media to play a key role in educating the public in this regard.
Bijoy Kakchingtabam said that journalists, due to the nature of their jobs, could not find time to visit banks, which is why the camp was organised to facilitate journalists open their accounts and avail benefits of the scheme.
Several resource persons talked on different saving and insurance schemes as a part of the event.
