Thoubal, July 27 2023:
Deeply concerned over torching of abandoned Meitei houses in Moreh by armed Kuki militants on Wednesday and reacting against the separate administrative demand and narco- terrorist act of the Kukis, a sit-in protest was staged at Wangjing bazar under the initiative of "Victims of Moreh & Churachandpur Relief Camp Akampat" on Thursday.
The protestors used placards reading "We have no trust in central forces"; "Save us Modi ji", "Kukis, stop trying to destroy Manipur", "We will sacrifice our lives for Manipur", "Wake up state and central forces", "Moreh is our ancestral land", "Save Moreh, Save Manipur" and "Deploy additional state forces in Moreh" .
One Tamem from Moreh said that Meitei houses in Moreh town were de -stroyed and burnt down by Kukis and as such the Meiteis had to flee the place and take shelter in different relief camps in Imphal.
The Meiteis have been longing to return to their homes and re-settle and had been expecting the government to do the needful at the earliest.
However, their dreams and expectations have been shattered to pieces after the abandoned Meitei houses were again burnt down by the Kukis right under the nose of the central forces.
Tamem also appealed to the government to send in more state forces in Moreh and save Moreh and Manipur.
