New Meetei body named Taragi Cheishu floated

Taragi Cheishu, a non-religious, non-profit and apolitical organisation for the Meetei to bring unity among the community in view of the prevailing situation in the state has been floated.
The main objective of the organisation is to foster unity of the Meetei community and have a collective strength of the community to move ahead on the right path.
Senior advocate Khaidem Mani, who has been made chairperson of Taragi Cheishu, told media persons at Manipur Press Club Thursday that the organisation will act as a guardian for CSOs and the people.
The organisation was formed to unite the Meetei people by different prominent personalities in varied professions to work in a common platform, he said.
The first consultative meet of the organisation was held on July 18 at Hotel Imphal attended by several prominent Meetei personalities while the second eld at Khurai Ahongei unanimously decided to name the organisation as 'Taragi Cheishu', Mani said.
Taragi Cheishu co-chairperson RK Nimai said the Meetei community lacked preparation for the present conflict but the organisation plans to study loopholes carefully with documentation.
The organisation will help existing organisations in different manners but will not be under any organisation.
The organisation will not be registered and work independently and would prepare vision document for up to 2050, he said adding that help from stakeholders from outside will be sought for documentation.
Several prominent Meetei personalities are part of Taragi Cheishu with Aribam Syam Sharma and Ratan Thiyam as advisors.
