State Open Badminton Championship : Bidyasagar Salam wins men's singles title

Imphal, July 27 2023:
Bidyasagar Salam claimed the men's singles title in the 67th State Open Badminton Championship organised by the Manipur Badminton Association at indoor hall DMU campus.
Imphal West's Bidyasagar notched up an easy 21-10, 21-12 win over H Malemnganba of Bishnupur in the final match this afternoon to finish on top.
In the meantime, renowned pair of K Dingku and Kh Manjit pair from Bishnupur district sealed the men's doubles title with a 21-17, 21-10 win over compatriots H Rohenkumar and RK Alen.

The semi-final line up of the U-19 Girls singles competition was completed today with K Gunjan of Imphal East and Leonie Tayenjam of Imphal West winning the last two quarter final matches.
M Priya of Imphal East will meet Chanulembi Sapam of Imphal West in the first semi-final match tomorrow before Gunjan meets Leonie.
Leonie prevailed 21-8, 21-8 over L Nandita of Imphal East today in the third quarter final match of the competition while Gunjan eased to a 21-13, 21-6 over Angom Lanchenbi of Imphal West.
U-19 Boys Competition
H Malemnganba who finished runners up in the men's singles competition worked hard to book a quarter final berth in the U-19 boys singles competition later in the day by knocking out S Shyamchandra of Imphal West 21-12, 21-15 .
Following the match, Maisnam Rishi of Imphal West sealed a 21-16, 21-10 win over Pfoki Liruna of Senapati district to set up a quarter final date with H Malemnganba.
H Rohenkumar then overcame Brikson Singh 26-28, 21-11, 21-16 in an all Bishnupur pre-quarter final clash before Rishav Ngangom thumped Martin Ingudam 23-21, 21-14 in another all Bishnupur pre-quarter final clash.
In the fifth pre-quarter final match, E Richard of Kakching edged out M Vivek of Imphal West 19-21, 22-20, 21-16 before Jomi Singam of Imphal East beat Neelachal Ph of Imphal West 21-19, 21-15 to set up quarter final date with E Richard.
Sushanta M also reached the quarter final of the competition with a 21-19, 21-10 win over Th Hursh of Imphal West to set up quarter final date with E Shitaljit of Kakching who outlasted RK Alen 21-16, 13-21, 21-18 in the last pre-quarter final match.
