Public meeting demands special Assembly session within 5 days

A joint public meeting of twelve valley-based clubs and organisations held today at SEVA Club, Thongju has arrived at three resolutions with regards to the ongoing conflict that has wrecked Manipur.
A press release issued by Nameirakpam Cheengkhei, secretary, Committee of Forward Clubs (CFC), Thongju has shared that the twelve clubs are Thoubal Amasung Kakching District Apunba Lup (TKDAL), Unified Peace Coordinating Committee (UPCC), Kumbi, Intellectual Forum, Langthabal, Peace and Integrity Committee (PICK) Kiyamgei, Committee of Forward Clubs, Thongju, Unified Youth Club, Kanglatongbi, Manipur Awang Chingkhei Clubs Amasung Apunba Lup (MACKCMAL) Khurai, UPC Nambol, Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (AMPL) Thongju, Tengdouyan Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (TAMPL), Tengdouyan Youth Club and Apunba Tengbang Lup, Patsoi.
The meeting was presided over by Yumnam Budhichandra Mangang, president CFC-Thongju.
During the course of the meeting, the leaders of the twelve organisations minutely deliberated the current issues and passed three resolutions.
First, they urged the Governor, Chief Minister and Speak to convene a special session of the State Assembly within five days, i.e between July 29 to August 2 and pass a resolution to uphold the territorial integrity of Manipur and oppose the separate administration demand.
Second, they called upon the Manipur MP to present the Manipur issue on the floor of the Parliament and express strong opposition to the demand for a separate administration.
Thirdly, the leaders stated that if the two demands are not met within the aforementioned five days then a total shutdown/public curfew will be imposed from the next day, August 3, onwards.
The statement also sought the support of all State organisations in the joint effort of the twelve organisations to save Manipur.
