Homage paid to martyrs of Anglo Manipuri War

Bishnupur, April 22 2025:
A tribute ceremony was held in honour of known and unknown martyrs of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, who sacrificed while defending the motherland in the battles of Laimaton, Leimatak, and Lamangdong - collectively known as 'Nongchup Lanpham' .
The event - jointly organised by the 'Descendants of the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891' and the Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak - was held at Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen in Bishnupur.
The function was attended by Bishnupur ADC T Opendro, All Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMK1L) president Lourembam Nganbi, Leitam Mukta Memorial Committee president professor Leitam Nabachandra, Ningthemcha Ningsing Lup advisor Kh Saratkumar, Longjamba Poila (Bira) Memorial Trust president L Ronendro and Justice Committee chairman Jbychandra Konthoujam as presidium members.
The event was marked by offering of floral tributes in honour of the martyrs of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891 and observing one minute's silence in their memory.
Family members of the martyrs were presented with gifts as a token of respect and remembrance.
