RIMS inaugurates new link road

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal inaugurated a new "Connecting Road of First and Second Campus" on Thursday.
According to a press release by media advisor N Phillip Singh, RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma attended the link road inauguration function in the presence of MS Prof N Sanjib Singh, deputy director (Admin) RK Mecolt Singh, CAO/FA Sairem Sarat Singh, College of Nursing, RIMS principal Prof H Jamuna Devi, and Dental College, RIMS principal Dr B Praveen Reddy.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil declared dedication of the new road to the public, staff and faculties, especially the medical students.
The new road will shorten to distance between the old and new campus of RIMS.
He appreciated RIMS Engi neering Cell, for handing over the completed work within two months along with informing that footpaths will be constructed and street lights installed for the new roads at the earliest.
Since RIMS covers an area of over 300 acres, proper road development is an issue and thus, the institute aims to change the landscape in coming future, the director said and appealed to the Engineering Cell, both Civil and Electrical section, to work hard for future development of the institute.
In his address, MS Prof Sanjib noted that earlier, the institute was worried about girl students taking public road late at night, especially at odd hours.
As such, the new link road will solve the security concerns for students, he expressed while commending the engineering team and the director for accomplishing the new road within a short period of time.
The programme was attended by HODs and faculties, EE, Engineering Department, staff, students and officials of RIMS, the release informed.
