Awareness on mental wellbeing, health camps organised

As a part of International Day of Yoga (IDY)-2O25, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Department of Psychiatry in collaboration with 86 Battalion CRPF, under the aegis of M&N Sector IG and guidance of battalion commandant Saurabh Kumar Choudhary, organised a mental wellbeing awareness programme at the battalion's Lamphelpat headquarters on Friday.
In a release, 86 battalion deputy commandant Kiyam Rajiv Singh informed that RIMS Department of Psychiatry head in-charge Dr Monica Nongmeikapam and Dr Anuradha Moirangthem conducted lectures focused on the practical aspects of maintaining emotional and mental resilience and shared techniques for managing high-stress environments.

The session emphasised the significance of stress regulation, emotional awareness and behavioural well-being, aligned with the holistic objectives of Yoga.
Personnel participated enthusiastically, underscoring the growing recognition of mental wellness as a vital component of overall health and operational effectiveness, the deputy commandant added.
Meanwhile, RIMS, Imphal, on Friday organised free health camps, dedicated to the well-being of senior citizens, at Senior Citizen Home, Kongba Nandeibam Leikai, Imphal East, and Langol Old Age Home, Imphal West as part of the Swachhta Action Plan 2025-26.A team of doctors and specialists from the departments of clinical psychology, general medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR), and ENT provided free consultations, treatment, and counselling service to the elderly residents.
The initiative aims to address both physical and mental health needs of the senior population and to promote active aging through early diagnosis and timely medical care, said a RIMS Media Cell release, adding that total of 34 senior citizens benefited from the health camps.
These health camps are part of RIMS' ongoing commitment to community outreach and inclusive healthcare, ensuring that vulnerable and underserved populations receive adequate medical support, according to the Media Cell.
