Female Home Guard Band feted

Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association on Thursday felicitated the Female Home Guard Band, which won the first position in the march past parade of the 75th Republic Day celebration in the state, along with observing the 5th Enhanced Pay/Duty Allowance of Home Guard Personnel, at the Association's office in Luwangsangbam.
Speaking on the occasion, Association president Y Mangi reminded that the day is observed to commemorate the first order announcing the increase of pay.
He also mentioned the achievement of the Female Home Guard Band in the Republic Day celebration, while acknowledging that the personnel had to pool their own money to sew uniforms for the parade, after the Department failed to do so.
He then urged the government to reimburse the money to the personnel concerned.
Mangi further informed that the authority concerned had been urged repeatedly for setting up a commandant general of Manipur Home Guard, but no action has been taken up till date.
As such, he urged for setting up the same at the earliest, adding that some home guard personnel have already been conferred meritorious award.
He also requested for taking up welfare programmes for home guards.
