RPI-A backs Maheshwar's decision to contest polls

Imphal, March 31 2024: Even as BJP and Congress leaders remained silent amid the crisis in the state since May 3 last year, Maheshwar Thounaojam came out for the sake of his motherland and showed mainland Indians that the Meeties were not wrong, informed RPI (Athawale) national executive member and northeast observer Vinod Nikalje.

In a video made available to the media, Nikalje said that RPI (Athawale) remains an ally of the NDA as the party has a strong hold in Maharashtra and fielded candidates in all other states.

He also said that the people of Manipur cannot forget Maheshwar considering the contribution he made during the crisis in the state and putting up clarification in the national media to counter false news circulated against the Meeteis by visiting many places across the country.

The party has been supporting Maheshwar in all his endeavours to save Manipur and the Meeteis considering the fact that he is fighting for the rights of individuals and equal treatment of all citizens.

The party will continue extending all support to Maheshwar in future too.
