Noney, August 25 2025:
Noney is lagging far behind in the health sector with the district's health institutions facing acute shortage of manpower.
There is a crippling manpower shortage of about 80 percent in the health sector in the district, said civil society organisations.
The Nungba Community Health Centre (CHC) has 32 vacancies.
The office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Noney has 14 vacancies.
The Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Khoupum has 5 vacancies.
The Haochong PHC Haochong has eight vacancies.
The PHC Noney has 7 vacancies.
These severe shortages of doctors, nurses and other staff were revealed when a team of leaders of different civil society organisations of the district visited the Noney CMO office and collected data on staff requirement of health centres in different sub-divisions.
The team included leaders of the Village Council Longmai Area, Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur (RNCM), Longmai Luangrian, Rongmei Naga Luh-Phuam Longmai Area, and Naga Women's Union Longmai Area.
Addressing media persons, the CSO leaders expressed grave concern and said the district healthcare system has been crippled by extreme shortages of manpower and infrastructure.
They said the people of the district are facing extreme hardships in accessing healthcare services.
Due to poor healthcare facilities, the people are unable to get required treatment.
Many precious lives have been lost on the way to Imphal because of the absence of adequate medical infrastructure in the district, they said.
Despite numerous democratic agitations and repeated assurances from the Department concerned, including commitments made by the Director, Commissioner, and even several Ministers of the Government, no concrete action has been taken up to improve healthcare infrastructure in Noney district, said the CSO leaders.
The CSOs urged the Government to address the issues at the earliest and complete the infrastructure development of the District Hospital, Noney.
