Imphal, March 22 2025:
More than 30 internally displaced families have voiced their anger on removal of their names from the list of displaced persons at a camp.
Earlier, the internally displaced families were staying at Phayeng High School Relief Camp.
After the camp became crowded and no adequate space was available, the families shifted to the Pan-chayat Ghar and Salai Shanglen at Kangchup Chingkhong.
Since they moved out of Phayeng High School Relief Camp, their names have been removed, said the displaced families.
At a press meet attended by members of more than 30 families, Angom Dijendro said the displaced families are now deprived of aid from the Government.
"We had to shift from Phayeng High School Relief Camp because there was no proper space.
Now, our names have been removed and we aren't receiving any aid," Dijendro said.
The displaced families staying at Kangchup Ching-khong include those whose houses have been burnt and damaged.
Many are unable to go back to their houses due to security reasons.
The more than 30 families have nowhere else to go, he said.
Asking why their names were removed from the list of displaced persons of the camp, Dijendro said the families are in need of assistance and without aid, the families would struggle to survive.
"We are all internally displaced persons and we must get what other internally displaced persons are getting as aid.
Our names must be reinstated within five days," Dijendro said.
If the names of the displaced families aren't rein- stated, "we may be forced to launch stringent agitation," Dijendro said.
"If our names aren't going to be reinstated, then we must be given the permission to go to our original villages and homes.
The Governor and the Chief Secretary must issue orders for taking up strict security measures for us to go back to our homes," Dijendro said.
He urged the Governor, the Chief Secretary and the district administration to take up appropriate actions to "reinstate the names of the displaced families within five days" .
