Imphal, March 07 2024:
The Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) has started consultations within its constituent parties on who should be named its candidate in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Notably, the Lok Sabha election is likely to be held in April/May this year.
Sources informed that three persons are being considered for nomination as INDIA's common candidate.
While two of them belong to the Indian National Congress, the other is proposed by CPI.
Of the two Congressmen, one held an important post of the State Government in the past and the individual is currently holding a key post in the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
The other is an academician, said the sources.
However, the sources refused to divulge the names of the individuals who are being considered for nomination as INDIA's candidate.
Nonetheless, it is said that the alliance has been seriously considering the academician too for nomination as a common candidate.
The sources maintained that it would be too early to divulge the names of the two individuals who are being considered for nomination as Congress candidate.
It is said that Alfred Kangam Arthur is so far the only aspiring candidate vying for INC ticket in Outer seat.
