Imphal, March 31 2024:
In a terrifying incident, miscreants robbed a 13 year old internally displaced boy and left him unconscious.
The miscreants snatched the earrings of the boy and took away his bicycle and even the clothes he wore.
The victim has been identified as L Roshan, s/o L Sarat of Saparmeina.
He has been taking refuge at the prefabricated house constructed by the State Government at Mandop Yumpham in Imphal West district along with his family after their house was torched by Kuki militants in the initial days of the ongoing crisis.
The horrific incident came to light after some passersby rescued the boy from the bank of Leimakhong River and handed him to his family yesterday afternoon.
According to the family, the boy went out from the prefabricated house to buy exercise books on his bicycle at around 11 am yesterday.
The child was waylaid by some miscreants and later abandoned him at the bank of Leimakhong River in unconscious state after snatching his earrings, bicycle and the clothes, according to the family.
Denouncing the incident, inmates who are taking refuge at the same prefabricated house staged a sit-in at Mandop Yumpham today.
Condemning the heinous crime, the inmates demanded the State Government to book the culprits and award befitting punishment to them at the earliest.
They decried that the lives of the internally displaced people are no longer safe.
