Traditional doll-making workshop held at GP Women's College

The Department of Home Science, GP Women's College, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, organised a Traditional Doll-Making Workshop today, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Manipur.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from BSc and MSc Home Science students, guided by the expertise of celebrated traditional artist and Padma Shri awardee (2022), Konsam Ibomcha Singh.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Dr Laitonjam Valentina, Robita Riamel, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science and Th Priyadarshini Devi, Head, Department of Home Science.
Speaking at the event, Ibomcha Singh emphasized the importance of preserving traditional crafts in the modem era.
"Our dolls are not just toys; they are living expressions of our history and culture", he remarked.
Throughout the event, Ibomcha Singh captivated the participants with live demonstrations of intricate techniques, sharing insights from his decades of experience.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about the cultural significance, materials, and methods involved in traditional doll-making, a cherished art form in Manipur.
Students actively engaged in hands-on sessions, crafting their own dolls under the expert guidance of Singh.
The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks to Konsam Ibomcha Singh for his invaluable contribution, and a collective commitment from the students to continue learning and promoting traditional crafts.
