DLOs briefed on anti-child marriage laws

Tengnoupal, April 16 2025: A one-day sensitisation and awareness-cum-interaction programme for district level officers and key stakeholders of Tengnoupal district was held Tuesday at the Sub-Divisional Office, Machi.

The event focused on the 'Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 & Child Protection' issues.

The programme organised by the district administration, in collaboration with the District Child'Protection Unit, was chaired by the additional district magistrate (ADM) of Tengnoupal.

Attendees included the SDO, SDC, SDPO, members of the Child Welfare Commit -tee (CWC), and other senior district officials.

DLOs briefed on anti-child marriage laws

Key discussions centred on the legal framework governing child marriage, preventive strategies; and the need for coordinated efforts to curb child marriage in the district.

The programme concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen grassroots implementation of the Act.

As part of the event, a poster campaign was also launched to raise awareness about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.

The campaign seeks to inform communities about existing child protection laws and to encourage the reporting of violations.

Posters are being displayed in schools, Anganwadi centres, marketplaces, and other public areas to promote a safe, informed, and supportive environment for children throughout the district.
