DM seals five localities; Noney board declares lockdown

Tamenglong/Noney, May 07 2021:
Subsequent to detection of 20 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours in Tamenglong district, the District Magistrate on Friday declared fve diferent including the entire village of Tabanglong as containment zones even as Longmai Bazar Board has imposed a fve-day shutdown in Longmai Bazar area of Noney district to contain the spread of COVID-19.However, emergency services will be allowed during the shutdown, the Board said.
With regard to the detection of 20 fresh positive cases in Tamenglong district, additional district magistrate Kajaigai Gangmei issued an order declaring residences of Joshua of New Canaan Tamenglong town, Gaichuiliu of Guangram village, Disinlung of Dimthanlong Tamenglong town, Khiumanang of Chiuluan village and the whole village of Tabanglong as virus afected zones.
Subsequently, entry and exit into/from the containment areas has been banned and active surveillance of Covid-19 cases has been initiated in the areas simultaneously.
In the order, the ADM cautioned that any persons/institutions/organisations found violating the containment measures shall be deemed to have committed an ofence punishable under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code 1860 and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 .
The order further informed that SDM/SDO Tamenglong Paul Nangsha shall be the executive magistrate to ensure compliance of the orders in the containment zones round the clock.
