Noney, July 01 2025:
The deputy general manager of the Noney Division, MSPDCL, has expressed serious concern over the alarmingly low revenue realisation from both post-paid collections and prepaid recharges within the division.
This decline in revenue is reportedly having a detrimental effect on the company s operations and its ability to deliver consistent electricity services to consumers in the area.
To address this issue and improve revenue recovery, the Noney Division of MSPDCL, in a press statement, has announced a series of enforcement measures under the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003.These include the disconnection and penalisation of unauthorised) unregistered, or illegal electricity connections; disconnection of post-paid consumers with Significant outstanding dues; and penalties or disconnection for prepaid consumers found engaging in dishonest practices such as power theft.
In accordance with the Electricity Act, 2003, penalties for electricity theft will be strictly enforced with first time offenders to be slapped fine amounting to three times the assessed cost of energy loss, and repeat offenders penalised at six times the estimated loss.
These measures, the division clarified, are aimed at ensuring the fair and judicious use of power supply in the interest of all consumers.
Residents have been urged to refrain from engaging in power theft and to cooperate fully with officials during routine inspections, which will be conducted regularly with immediate effect.
