Drug-Free India campaign held at relief camps

Kakching, March 28 2025:
Kakching district administration, in collaboration with District Social Welfare Office, organised an 'Awareness cum Self- Esteem Development Programme' as part of the District Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign) on Friday at Khomdonbi Memorial English School and M Binod relief camps in Kakching Khunou, Kakching district.
The campaign aims to educate and support internally displaced persons (IDPs) to lead a drug-free lifestyle by highlighting the adverse effects of substance abuse and its long-term consequences.
Additionally, the programme provided practical strategies and resources to help individuals resist drug use.

Notable attendees included Nutan Nongthombam, Asian Youth Leader Colombo Plan, who participated as a resource person, Mayanglambam Ratan Mangang, convenor Khomdonbi Memorial School relief camp, and Sanasam Sarat Singh, probation officer District Social Welfare Office, Kakching.
The programme witnessed participation of 250 individuals at the Khomdonbi school relief camp and 140 at M Binod relief camp.
Interactive sessions with the residents were also conducted to foster engagement and address concerns related to substance abuse prevention.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) is a nationwide initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in August 2020 .
It aims to create a drug-free India and is currently being implemented in 372 high-risk districts identified through the first Comprehensive National Survey and inputs from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) .
