Ukhrul, July 16 2025:
Raizan Traders Association (RTA) and Raizan Long (RL) in Kamjong district have alleged irregularities in the construction of the Ramphoi (Nambisha)-Huimine Thana Road, urging authorities concerned to intervene promptly to address these issues.
The organisations warned that if corrective measures are not initiated within one week, they will be compelled to launch intense agitations.
During a joint inspection of the 32-km roadway on Wednesday, RL vice president Vatan Duidang and RTA president Pharipam Shithung expressed their dissatisfaction with the current state of the road.

Shithung informed that the road was being constructed by Bhartia Infra Projects Limited (BIPL) under the North Eastern Council (NEC) since 2019 .
However, the agency abruptly pulled out after the 2023 conflict, leaving the project incomplete.
Pointing out several construction irregularities, including the absence of proper breast walls and drainage systems, Shithung noted that the same have made the road susceptible to landslides.
He also expressed concern that cracks have developed in various sections of the blacktopped surface, posing a risk of sinking during the monsoon season, and stressed the need for immediate rectification of these construction flaws.
Despite multiple complaints to the Kamjong deputy commissioner, SDO, chief engineer of PWD, and other authorities, their concerns have gone un-addressed, he lamented.
"If no action is taken within a week, we will have no choice but to launch intense protests," he warned.
Shithung stated that the road, which is a lifeline for residents of the border region, has experienced frequent landslides over the past two years.
Since BIPL's withdrawal, villagers have had to conduct maintenance themselves, however a significant landslide on the night of July 15, stretching about 50 metres, has blocked all traffic along the road leading to Huimine Thana village, 32 km from Kamjong district headquarters.
Vatan Duidang mentioned that the Tuesday's landslide was so severe that villagers were unable to clear it, necessitating the use of a JCB excavator from the 8th Assam Rifles to remove debris and restore traffic flow temporarily.
"With the monsoon in full swing, we could face even bigger landslides until the hillside is stabilised," he cautioned, urging immediate attention from authorities.
Ramphoi headman Shimthar Kamodang also appealed to authorities concerned to address the hardships faced by the locals and rectify the construction issues as soon as possible.
Raizan Long jurisdiction currently covers around 15 villages in the Kamjong border region.
