Army, AR, Tengnoupal DA celebrate 'Ningol Chakkouba'

On the auspicious occasion of 'Ningol Chakkouba', Indian Army reached out to the Lamlai relief camp, Imphal East district, to spread warmth and support to the families in need.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that in line with the festival's spirit the Army distributed essential materials to over 70 women to ease their daily challenges.
Traditional sweets were also shared during the event also attended by the Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha.
Assam Rifles also celebrated the traditional Ningol Chakkouba festival with the Meetei community at Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district and Serou in Kakching district on Sunday.
According to a statement of PRO IGAR (S), the Ningol Chakouba event at Kwatha marked a vibrant celebration of the cherished festival, which honours the enduring bond between married daughters and members of their maternal homes.
During the festivities, Assam Rifles welcomed Meetei women adorned in their finest attire, who brought gifts symbolising warmth and tradition.
In return, they received tokens from the Assam Rifles, embodying the deep connection between the force and the community.
Officials from Assam Rifles extended heartfelt greetings to the Meetei community, emphasising the significance of this festival.
The celebration at Kwatha drew participation of 170 villagers including 118 women and 26 children, fostering a spirit of kinship and joy among attendees.
Simultaneously, at the Serou relief camp in Kakching district, Assam Rifles distributed refreshments, essential items and gifts to displaced people staying at the camp.
Health and hygiene support was provided through a medical camp while fogging and DDT spraying were carried out to ensure the well-being of camp residents.
At the Mission Blind School, Assam Rifles engaged with students, teachers and staff to understand their needs and offer ongoing assistance.
Refreshments were provided to, students and nearby residents, further strengthening community bonds.
The event was aimed at deepening the connection between Assam Rifles and the people of Kakching district.
In collaboration with IDPs, medicines and rations were distributed to women and children at the relief camp.
The celebration concluded with a community feast alongside the Meira Paibis, where special gifts were presented to the Ningols.
Around 350 people including 70 men, 180 women and 100 children actively participated the joyous event, the statement added.
Tengnoupal district administration organised Ningol Chakkouba, 2024 for the 'Ningols' of Kwatha and Kwatha Khunou on Sunday at Kwatha community hall, The event was attended by Moreh SDO Ejaj Hassan, Tengnoupal Junior BDO Moshel Yunglama and Moreh SDC Sukur Ali on behalf of the district administration as host, with 3 Assam Rifles CO Shisir Pandey also present on the occasion.
In his address, Col Shishir wished the people of Kwatha a very happy Ningol Chakkouba and said that the Assam Rifles will take care of the Kwatha villagers with full rigour and commitment.
Addressing the people and particularly the ningols of Kwatha, SDO Ejaj Hassan, greeted the people of Kwatha with all good tidings and blessings of the Almighty for a better future on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
He further stated that the district administration will leave no stone unturned for the care of the people of Kwatha and commended womenfolk of Kwatha for their energy and patience in the face of many challenges faced amid the ongoing conflict.
Later, the officials presented gifts to the 'ningols' of Kwatha.
