Imphal, August 08 2023:
The on-going violence in Manipur could have been contained easily but the double engine government of BJP is unable to put an end to it for a long time, stated All India Forward Block central committee chairman Naren Chatterjee.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, Naren Chatterjee said Manipur is closely associated with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and accordingly Forward Block always took issues of the state seriously.
The party has been closely monitoring situation in Manipur since the beginning of the violence, he said, adding the Centre should put an end to the violence by giving special attention.
All India Forward Block's central committee secretariat member Mihir Nandi, who also attended the press conference, said the main reason behind escalation of violence in Manipur is lack of concrete step to resolve the crisis by both the state and Central governments.
She also questions as to why the double engine government is unable to take proactive steps to resolve the ongoing crisis and bring back peace and normalcy in Manipur.
All India Forward Block state committee secretary Khomdram Gyaneshor said party's central leaders visited various relief camps immediately after reaching the state and provided relief materials to camps.
He said that the Centre could resolve the crisis within 24 hours but unable to do so due to hidden agenda.
