Medicines on way to Moreh seized at Wangjing by locals, gives to relief camps

Women folks of Wangjing who are guarding the village seized a Maruti Alto car and a Maruti Swift car carrying medicines for Kukis in Moreh at Wangjing bazaar on Tuesday.
Five Meitei Pangals who were transporting the said medicines to Moreh has been rounded up and later released following a meeting with Meitei Pangal CSOs.
The seized medicines are in the custody of the women folks of Wangjing and will be distributed to relief camps opened in different parts of the state.
The five persons involved in the act has been identified as Md Abdul Samad (42) son of Abdul Hakim and his wife Samira Nesa of Lilong Haotabi, Md Feroz Khan (50) son of Abdul Manam and his wife Samila Begum of Keibung and Md Umar son of late Jahiruddin of keibung.
They arrived in two cars, Alto (MN 04 A 8813) and Swift (MN 06LB 6670) .
Speaking to reporters, a women village volunteer H Chaoba said that the two vehicles were stopped for checking at Wangjing bazaar during which the medicines were found wrapped in 15 carton boxes.
They later informed that the medicines were to be transported to Moreh to be used by Kukis.
She further informed that the two cars will be ceased for two months while the medicines will be distributed to relief camps.
This decision was arrived at after conducting a meeting with Meitei Pangal CSOs.
ANJUMAN secretary Maulana Habibullah also informed reporters that the decision of ceasing the cars and distributing the medicines to relief camps was unanimously agreed during the meeting held at Wangjing SK Leikai.
ANJUMAN and AMMOCOC have also support the decision.
It is very unfortunate that such incidents have been reported at a time when the people of the state are suffering following the vio lence, he said and appealed to all members of Meitei Pangal community to stop doing business on products which are not allowed by the people at this juncture.
ANJUMAN and AMMOCOC will not take responsibility if in case such cases are found in future.
