MSCW holds discourse on 'women and law'

Imphal, March 28 2025:
A one-day awareness programme on "Women and Law" organised by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with ITA Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd was held Ofi Friday at Uttarayan Theatre, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal East.
Speaking at the programme, MSCW chairperson Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, stressed the importance of educating Women about their constitutional rights to strengthen women's empowerment.
She highlighted that among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations, gender equality is a key component.
To achieve this goal, she underscored the necessity for women to be well-informed and proficient in various fields.

Thumlip further stated that awareness of women s rights and legal provisions is crucial in enabling women to seek justice and report cases of domestic violence and crimes against women to the appropriate authorities.
She urged attendees to take full advantage of the awareness programme and act as ambassadors for change within their communities.
During the technical session, Soibam Nongpoknganba Meitei and Th Rajkishore delivered presentations on "Criminal Law and Women" and "Procedural Guidelines for the Enforcement of Women s Legal Rights," respectively.
MSCW member SK Sophia Moyon, Laishram Leikai Gram Panchayat chairperson (administrative committee) Thongam Leishemba, and ITA Women Society secretary L Bidyalaxmi also attended the programme as presidium members.
Members of different SHGs, Laishram Leikai Gram Panchayat and locals attended the awareness programme.
