Govt readies for Khongjom Day, asks employees to attend

Imphal, April 21 2025:
The observance of Khongjom Day will be held at the Khongjom War Memorial at Khebaching, Thoubal on April 23 with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and chief secretary Prashant Kumar Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
The observance will start with a Sankirtan by artistes of Manipur State Kala Akademi.
Governor Bhalla, will lead the floral tribute at Khongjom War Memorial and the statue of Paona Brajabashi along with an offering of Tarpon at Khongjom River.
Moreover, the Rup Mahal Theatre will present a drama on 'Khongjom Lal' along with many other programmes.
The state government has appealed to the public to attend the observance so as to pay befitting tribute to the brave heroes who made supreme sacrifices in their fight to safeguard the freedom of their motherland.
To enable the public attend the observance, the transport department has also arranged buses from Imphal to Khongjom Khebaching.
Buses will depart from different locations of Imphal including MST Complex, Koirengei, Chingmeirong, Porompat, Tera Bazar, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, directorate of art & culture at 6:30 am sharp.
Meanwhile, GAD (welfare section) has advised all the administrative secretaries and HODs to instruct the government officials and staff to attend the observance in time without fail.
Buses for government employees have been arranged by the transport department with pick-up point at the eastern side of 1st MR parade ground at 6:30 am sharp.
The government further requested only those media persons having valid press ID cards (which shall be prominently displayed at all times) to give coverage of the event.
Coverage of the state function by persons without valid press IDs, claiming to belong to media firms, will be prohibited.
Transportation for media persons will be arranged separately, and the pick-up point for the same will be at DIPR Complex, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal at 6:30 am sharp.
