Festival of Narrative Art held

A Narrative Art Festival was organised by Shri Shri Patita Pawana Natya Mandir (SSPPNM) at its Keishamthong Hodam Leirak mandop, on Wednesday.
The function was attended by theatre and cultural personality L Brajamohon and SSPPNM president Aribam Sanayaima Sharma as chief guest and president respectively while MDU senior director Haorongbam Debendro Singh and junior director board member Santosh (Govindo) Sharma were the guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, SSPPNM vice president B Jugolchandra Sharma observed that Wari Leeba, Sat Sangha and Nupi Pala widely performed/practiced in the past seem to be fading away at the juncture.
Some 50/60 years back, people used to attend 'Wari Leeba' and 'Sat Sangha' programmes performed for extended period of days, from which the attendees got acquainted with customs, culture and tradition of Manipur.
Expressing that conduct of 'Wari Leeba' and 'Sat Sangha' events and other related activities for enrichment of art and culture, has been gradually disappearing, he pointed out that the Narrative Art Festival is being organised to highlight the pros and cons of this evolving system.
During the function, K Ibom-cha Sharma presented 'Wari Leeba', and Naorem Gulam and Moirangthem Nara performed 'Sat-Sangha' while SSPPNM artistes presented 'Nupi Pala Phamshak' .
