Integrated programme on SVEEP held

A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Central Bureau of Communication Regional Office, Imphal at Royal Academy of Law, Oinam on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by Academy governing body secretary I Jugeshwar Singh, principal Eliza Maisnam and assistant professor Dr Akham Rajashree as chief guest, president and resource person respectively.
Speaking as resource person, Dr Rajashree informed vote is a constitutional right beside it being a facet of fundamental right under Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution of India.
She said that voters should know antecedents of candidates and manifestoes of political parties and practise ethical and informed voting.
As a part of the programme, EVM and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (WPAT) were discussed, and a spot quiz contest conducted followed by distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners.
