Imphal, March 22 2025:
Chandel Naga Peoples' Organisation (CNPO) called on the authorities concerned to look into the murder of late Serto Thangthang Kom and deliver justice at the earliest.
In a release, CNPO president Db Thamdok stated that late Serto Thangthang Kom was an Indian Army, a sepoy with the PIB (Defence Wing) and was on leave when he was abducted by unidentified persons and murdered.
As per a news publication on September 18, 2023 he was abducted and killed on September 16, 2023 at Tarung, Neikantong, Happy Valley in Imphal West at around 10 am.
His funeral service was held the following day at 11:30 am with full military honours at his residence (Litan village) as agreed with the Government of Manipur and the bereaved family members.
Due to the injustice done against late Serto Thangthang Kom, his brother Phachung Kom had reported to the Lamphel police on September 16, 2023 and a case filed with the OC of the police station.
As justice has not been delivered for late Serto Thangthang Kom, the family on August 19, 2024, requested the police to take the matter seriously and take swift actions on the matter.
Considering the situation of the bereaved family and justice denied to the victim, CNPO urged authorities concerned to take the matter seriously and heed to the plea of Serto Pachung Kom, brother of the deceased, at an early date.
While respecting and honouring the judgement of the government, it demanded immediate response and befitting punishment to the culprits.
