CPI state conference underway

A three-day 24th CPI state conference held to mark completion of 100 years of Communist Party of India (CPI) commenced from Friday at Irabat Memorial Hall, Chalou, Lamlai.
Prior to the conference, CPI leaders and workers took out a rally and paid floral tributes to the statue of late minister Pheiroijam Parijat.
The rally and conference was attended by CPI leaders like central commission member Dr M Nara, CPI Manipur in-charge Pallab Sengupta, CPI state control commission chairman Langol Iboyaima, CPI Manipur state committee secretary Leishangthem Thoiren and scores of party functionaries and workers.
Addressing gathering, Dr M Nara said the present crisis to Manipur is a very serious one and it would be very hard to bring solution if people and leaders remain disunited.
It is important to bring understanding among all sections of the society to bring solution to the crisis and bring change in the society, he said and stressed the need to establish an egalitarian society in Manipur in the line of Hijam Irabat's thought.
According to Dr M Nara, it would not be right for the people of Manipur to forget the life and works of Hijam Irabat, who initiated communist movement and founded CPI in Manipur.
He also said that the present generation need to revive Irabat's thoughts to bring an egalitarian society and ensure every religion, language and castes get equal respect.
