Senapati, February 07 2024:
After the Paddy Field Owners Association's ultimatum lapsed, the association halted vehicular movement at the Barak River Bridge in Koide Biisho on Wednesday morning.
Hundreds of vehicles reportedly came to a halt.
However, with timely intervention from the local MLA and Maram-Phaibung Road Development Association, an agreement was reached to postpone the blockade along the road.
According to a source from the Road Development Association, the deadline to compensate the held owners has been extended until the end of February, with the association agreeing to discuss compensation with the authority concerned during the month of February.
Mention may be made that the affected Field Owners Association had earlier set January as the deadline to compensate the held owners.
However, as the demand evoked no positive response, they were compelled to enforce the blockade on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the affected held owners' association as well as the Road Development Association urged the authority concerned to take appropriate steps to avoid causing problems for commuters along the route.
