Senapati, May 02 2025:
All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has strongly condemned the killing of three NSCN cadres by "Indian security forces" and Assam Police on April 29 at the forest areas between New Kubin and Herakilua villages in a Naga-inhabited district, calling it a "heinous act of cold-blooded murder" .
In a statement issued Friday, ANSAM accused the Government of India of openly violating the official agreements with NSCN, specifically the joint statement signed on June 14, 2001, in Bangkok.
The agreement, it said, established a ceasefire between the two entities without territorial limits and required both parties to abide by the ground rules revised on January 13, 2001, to prevent offensive operations and promote a peaceful environment for political dialogue.
ANSAM expressed dismay that India, despite being a democratic nation, continues to dishonour its commitments by committing what it called "belligerent atrocities" against NSCN.
The student body said the Centre's delay in concluding the Indo-Naga peace talks despite several rounds of dialogue reflects its disregard for the process.
At a time when peace talks are being held at the "Prime Minister level", ANSAM said that it was "disgraceful and self-contradicting" for the Centre to imprison Naga political leaders, calling it a "sinister policy" that undermines India's democratic ethics and disowns leaders who recognised the "unique history and situation of the Naga people" .
The association paid homage to the three NSCN cadres and said their sacrifice will.be remembered in the Naga national struggle for self-determination.
