Stolen vehicles recovered; UC cadres arrested

Imphal, April 22 2025:
In a series of security operations, police recovered 16 stolen vehicles and removed tinted glasses from 36 others during a special drive against anti-social elements and as part of pre-emptive security measures on Sunday.
On the same day, police arrested an active member of the proscribed PREPAK from Sawombung Thongkhong Awang Leikai under Lamlai police station in Imphal East.
The arrested individual has been identified as Khundrakpam Katho Singh (22) of the same locality.
On Monday, three active members of PREPAK (Pro) were arrested from Ngakhapat Adventure Kharok under Sagolmang PS in Imphal East.
The arrested persons were identified as Nongthombam Maingou Singh (33), Nongthombam Mohen Singh (45), and Keisham Sana Leima alias Tamphasana alias Lingjel (40) .
Police said the trio was involved in the abduction of two persons from near Naorem Birahari College in Khundrakpam, Imphal East, for ransom.
The victims were later rescued safely.
Police recovered a .32 pistol with a magazine loaded with five rounds, six mobile phones, a black waist belt, and two two-wheelers from the trio.
Earlier, Saturday, security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from Yangoubung and T Bongmol villages under Moreh PS in Tengnoupal district.
The items included IED metal shells, plastic explosives, Motorola communication devices and batteries, AK-47 ammunition, bulletproof jackets, combat clothing, and military footwear.
Another seizure was made from the foothills of Keirao Wangkhem village near TB Hospital under Irilbung PS in Imphal East, where police recovered a 7.62 SLR rifle with a magazine, a 12 bore single barrel gun, a sniper rifle with telescope, two 9 mm pistols with magazines, a .22 pistol, various live rounds, a wireless radio set, bulletproof plates, a helmet, and five pairs of military shoes.
