Anti-drug poster campaign conducted

Porompat police station in association with Women's Social Welfare Association, Wangkhei An-gom Leikai, Sana Konung Meira Paibi Lup, Mahabali Apunba Meira Paibi, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Kanglup, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and WAL United Youth Club, jointly organised a poster campaign against drug abuse by taking out a rally on Tuesday.
Carrying the message of collectively combating the growing menace of drug abuse among youth, women from Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Palace Compound, and nearby areas gathered at the WAL United Youth Club ground around 10:30 am .
With the assistance of Porompat police, the women began their march, displaying posters with messages about the devastating effects of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society,' while urging the public to take a stand against it.
The march started from Wangkhei Angom Leikai, proceeded towards Sanjenthong, then to Mahabali, Palace Compound, Andro Parking, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and concluded at the starting point.
According to Porompat police station OC Chandra kumar, the government is working tirelessly to combat drug problem in the state by launching 'War on Drugs' and further added that home department took vital role in the campaign against drugs and psychotropic substances.
Under this effort, numerous drug traffickers have been arrested and drug factories destroyed, he added.
Chandrakumar further stressed that it is crucial to make a collective effort to save the community's future, which is being ruined by drug addiction particularly among the youth.
Emphasising that the fight against drugs cannot be won by government or any single department alone, he called for a collective effort and collaboration between government, various departments, and public.
He explained that the poster campaign is being organised in collaboration with local clubs and women's associations to highlight the crucial need for public participation.
Sana Konung Meira Paibi Lup general secretary Yumnam Ibeyaima expressed concern over the growing drug addiction among the youth.
She said that drug abuse is impacting the community and that many people have come forward to fight against the menace.
She urged the public to join the fight against drug abuse and also appealed to the youth to quit drugs and help preserve the future of Manipur.
