RIMS conducts CME on Stem Cell Transplant

Imphal, April 16 2025:
The Department of Transfusion Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in collaboration with the Manipur Society of Transfusion Medicine, successfully organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on "Stem Cell Transplant and Rational Transfusion Practices" at Sushruta Hall, RIMS.
Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, director RIMS, attended the event as chief guest, alongside Prof N Sanjib Singh, medical superintendent RIMS Hospital, Imphal, and Prof Th Meera, dean (academics) RIMS, who served as president and guest of honour, respectively.
In his address, the RIMS director emphasised the vital role of stem cell therapies and evidence-based transfusion practices in enhancing patient care.
He also highlighted RIMS' designation as the first Centre of Excellence for Rare Diseases in the Northeast and praised the department for facilitating this important academic exchange.
The CME featured leading experts who delivered insightful lectures on cutting-edge developments in stem cell therapy and transfusion medicine.
Faculty members, postgraduates, and medical professionals attended the event.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to guest speakers for their contributions.
Meanwhile, as part of the World Oral Health Day 2025 celebration, the Dental College, RIMS, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha State Implementation Society, Manipur organised a state-level quiz competition and science exhibition at Jubilee Hall, RIMS.
The event was attended by Prof G Sunil, Prof N Sanjib, Prof Deepak BS, principal (i/c) Dental College RIMS, Soraisham David Singh, additional state project director (elementary), Samagra Shiksha, Manipur, and Bobby Singh Moirangthem, finance controller, Samagra Shiksha, Manipur.
Students from across Manipur showcased their talent and raised awareness about oral health.
In the science exhibition, Bishnupur district secured first place, followed by Wangoi Zone in second and Imphal East in third.
Thoubal district received a consolation prize.
Senapati District won the oral health exhibition, while Bishnupur and Wangoi secured second and third position, respectively.
Chandel district topped the quiz competition, with Imphal East and Thoubal taking second and third places.
Winners received mementos, certificates, and cash prizes.
