Centenary Celebrations at Bakuwa Village

The Inpui tribe is celebrating "100 years of Christianity" at Bakuwa Village, which is the birthplace of Mr Namrijinang (1874-1944) who was also known by the name Maipak, said a release.
The celebration committee expressed that the forefathers of Mr Namrijinang had migrated from Kabuikhullen to Bakuwa Village and following an epidemic in the year 1880, his father namely Mr Dikhenang moved to Imphal valley and settled at Keishamthong in 1891.Later in 1914 Mr Namrijinang and his wife embraced Christ and become the first Christian convert among the Inpui tribe, observed the release.
In connection with this centenary celebration of the community, the Inpui Centenary Celebration Committee has invited all the people of the tribe from across the state to take part in this celebration which will be held from December 6 to 8.A torch rally will also be organized from Phungyo Baptist Church of Ukhrul to Bakuwa Baptist Church of Tamenglong district on December 6, added the release.
Further the committee also appealed to all the social organizations and other NGOS of the state not to call any bandh or blockade during the observance.
