Imphal, November 27 2014:
The Coordination Committee (CorCom) of six proscribed outfits of the State, namely KCP, KYKL, PREPAK, PREPAK (Pro), RPF and UNLF has called a 24-hour state-wide public curfew from 12.00 am of November 30 to denounce the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Manipur.
According to a statement issued by the Convenor of CorCom's Publicity Committee, the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be a 'bad omen' for the people of Manipur.
The Indian Government has long been suppressing the people of Manipur with various kinds of discriminative and draconian laws.
The Indian leaders have no regard for the people of Manipur.
The 'Iron Lady' Irom Chanu Sharmila has been fighting against the draconian law AFSPA for more than a decade, but the Indian Government has remained tenacious all these years by enforcing such discriminatory laws in Manipur.
The visit of the head of Indian 'colonialists' would not bring anything good to the people of Manipur, except adversity.
India has been following the 'divide and rule' policy to create enmity and hatred among the harmonious communities of Manipur, the statement.
In his speech at the 9th East Asia Summit held recently in Nay Pyi Taw, Modi said "...
In a world of interdependence and globalisation, there is no option but to follow international laws and norms.
...
For this reason, following international law and norms is important ..." However, India has been oppressing the people of Manipur in utter disregard to the international laws, the CorCom said.
The 24-hour curfew would be relaxed for media and emergency services like medical and fire service, the statement added.
