Rath Yatra celebrated with religious fervour

Shree Shree Govindajee Temple celebrated Rath Yatra festival locally known as 'Kang Chingba' usually performed for nine days beginning from the second day of 'Inga' month of the Meetei lunar calendar every year.
However, this year's Rath Yatra celebration amidst tight security arrangement on Friday was limited to rituals and religious ceremonies only due to the ongoing crisis.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and some MLAs visited Shree Shree Govindajee Temple and joined Arti rituals of the Rath Yatra.
The Governor offered prayer at the temple for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Manipur.
He also extended his greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion.
At about 1 pm, the deities of Balabhadra, Jaganath and Subhadra were brought out from Shree Shree Govindajee temple and put on the chariot to begin Rath Yatra (Kang Chingba).
Large numbers of people then joined the Kang Chingba till the Palace gate and offered prayers.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISK-CON) also celebrated Rath Yatra and performed Kang Chingba from the ISKCON temple, Sangaiprou up to Kwakeithel traffic point along Tiddim road and back.
Rath Yatra was celebrated at the border town of Moreh on Friday after gap of two years due to the ongoing conflict since May, 2023 .
It was organised by Shree Shree Radha Govindajee ISKCON temple, Moreh.
The Moreh celebration, held for the 21st time, was joined by many people from Tamu, Myanmar following Hindu faith.
Meanwhile, a part of the grand Shree Shree Govindajee Rath Yatra celebration, Seva Bharati Manipur, along with Kalyan Ashram hostellers and volunteers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), provided drinking water to devotees at the Hapta Kangjeibung Gate, Palace Compound.
Over 1500 devotees were served water during the day-long service, evoking happiness and gratitude from the devotees.
The Rath Yatra of Govindajee is one of the major religious events in Manipur, drawing thousands of devotees from across the region.
The voluntary service not only ensured relief for the devotees under the summer heat but also reflected the spirit of community welfare and harmony .
