Assaulted differently-abled man succumbs

A 44-year old differently-abled man who was assaulted by two persons including a Manipur police havildar, succumbed to injuries on Wednesday at Raj Medicity.
According to police, the deceased identified as Nongthombam Ingocha was thrashed after a confrontation by the two suspects at his house.
The two suspects namely, havildar Pukhrambam Robert (44), son of late Manaoton and Koijam Rishikanta (49), son of Shyamsunder both from Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai, were arrested on Wednesday and produced before the CJM, Imphal West on Thursday and remanded in police custody for six days.
Ingocha was living alone at his Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai residence.
He was found badly injured by his relatives and rushed to Raj Medicity where he succumbed to injuries on Wednesday evening, it added.
The mortal remains of Ingocha were kept at RIMS Morgue and a case registered regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the locals staged sit-in protest at Lep Mayai Leikai and formed a JAC, which decided to permanently banish the accused duo from Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai.
