EVMs commissioning at Ukhrul, Chingai from April 5

Ukhrul, March 31 2024:
Ukhrul District Election Office on Sunday announced that the commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for 44-Ukhrul (ST) constituency and 45-Chingai (ST) constituency will commence on April 5 for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to a notice issued by Ukhrul DEO/DC Zuringla Kengoo, the EVM warehouse and strong rooms for the two constituencies will open at 7.30 am of April 5 for the commissioning process.
Entry to the commissioning hall will only be allowed through the Door Frame Metal Detector (OFMD) after production of a valid identity card or pass issued by the Ukhrul DEO, it informed.
"All the contesting candidates, agents, and political parties operating in Ukhrul district are requested to send two authorised representatives with their authorisation in writing and two stamp size photographs before 5 pm on April 3, to obtain an ID/pass for the commissioning hall.
However, if any contesting candidate, agent, or political party is unable to do so, the commissioning process will still proceed as scheduled," it read.
The notice further stated that the supervisor for this exercise will be Rajaigai Gangmei, ADM Ukhrul/ Assistant Returning Officer 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Constituency, as per Chapter 8.Para 8.1 fd) of the Manual on Electronic Voting Machine Edition 8, dated August 2023 .
It continued that the possession of cell phones, cameras, spy pens, etc., is strictly prohibited inside the warehouse or strong room.
They can be deposited at the mobile collection centre, managed by on-duty police personnel, it added.
