Imphal, October 19 2023:
Stating that Manipur would have ceased to exist if the village volunteers and the mothers of Manipur were not there, RPI (Athawale) national secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam has, nonetheless, cautioned that it would be unwise to become complacent just because the conflict seems to have cooled down a bit.
He made the statement during a public meeting organised by Yairipok Youth Welfare Association at Yairipok Khoirom Kangjeibung on Tuesday.
Maheshwar continued that it would be unwise to become complacent, considering the tactics used by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to orchestrate the conflict since May 3, the main objective of which is well known to everyone in the state today.
He said that the ten Kuki MLAs, who raised the demand for a separate administration, should be disqualified to teach them a lesson that Manipur can never be disintegrated for the creation of another country/state.
Although the conflict seems to be subsiding, many displaced people staying in the relief camps are yet to return to their respective homes.
In addition, the grief of all those who have lost their loved ones during the conflict cannot be let go in vain.
Thus, we all need to hold fast to our demands for withdrawal of SoO, putting an end to poppy plantation and illegal entry to the state, he added.
