JSCC resolves to face threats to territory

A meeting of the Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC), which include AIMS, DESAM, KSA, MSF, SUK and another students' body, held at Khuman Lampak, here, on Thursday, has resolved to stand against any threat to the territory and identity of Manipur.
The joint meeting adopted nine resolutions including student bodies to take proactive role in flushing out narco-terrorists from the state and work towards protecting the indigenous communities; intensify the movement in pursuance of NRC update in the state to detect and deport ille gal immigrants; students to play major role in protecting indigenous communities and promoting unity; face any threat to the territory and identity of Manipur; join hands to fight narco-chemical warfare that threatens the future of the society and lives of youth, especially students; stand united against terror activities and security excesses against students; urge government to open educational institutions and ensure safe environment for students for improving human resource and knowledge capital; students to play crucial role in improving the socio-economy condition of the state and bring self-reliance; and student bodies to unite and work together towards implementation of the resolutions adopted during the meeting.
DESAM president and JSCC coordinator L Lamyanba said that the meeting was organised to discuss the present situation in the state and its impact on the student community so that a way forward could be worked out to ensure a better future.
JSCC is not only trying to build unity among the students but also to instil a sense of patriotism among them.
Student community in the state has been demanding implementation of NRC to detect and deport illegal immigrants, he said while urging the government to expedite the process.
He also urged the government to understand the hardships being faced by students and ensure a safe and disturbance free environment for education for a better future of the society.
Manipur University history department's retired professor N Joykumar, MU Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) associate professor Dr Thiyam Bharat, DMU Political Science Department associate professor Dr Arambam Noni, MSF president H Roshan, KSA president S Bidyananda, SUK president N Dhanakumar and AIMS president O Nikarson, among others also attended the meeting as presidium members.
