14 Pencak Silat players qualify for National Games

Imphal, October 19 2023: Altogether 14 players of Manipur have qualified for Pencak Silat competition of the 37th National Games in Goa from October 25 to November 9 .

In a release, Pencak Silat Association of Manipur said that the players qualified for the National Games based on their performance at the 11th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship 2023 (Men & Women) held in Nashik, Maharashtra from August 12-15 .

The qualified players are Shamjetshabam Bidyaluxmi Devi (under 45 kg), Thounaojam Rita Chanu (45-50 kg), Ningthoujam Priya Devi (50-55 kg), Yaikhom Anjali Devi (55-60 kg), Ahongshangbam Sarjubala (60-65 kg) and Sanasam Sophia Chanu (65-70 kg) in women's category; Yaikhom Rohit Meitei (45-50 kg), Naorem Boynao Singh (50-55 kg), Yaikhom Kiran Singh (55-60 kg) and Huidrom Bishan Meitei (60-65 kg) in men's category; and Huidrom Bishan Meitei (Tunggal Men), Naorem Boynao Singh (Solo Men), Sinam Chingkhei Singh & Sinam Jeevan Singh (Ganda Men); and Thokchom Benao Chanu & Thingbaijam Daya Lakshmi Chanu (Ganda Women) in artistic category.

The state team will be led by Laishram Ranjit Singh as team coach, Ningthoujam Robindro Singh as assistant coach and Laishram Shyamkumar Singh as team manager, it added.
