AR assists women's meet, distributes fishing nets

Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) provided assistance for organising the meeting of Manipuri Anal Naga Women at Larong Khullen village in Chandel district at Anal Naga Baptist Association (ANBA) Women's Conclave held from October 13 to 16 .
According to PRO IGAR (S), the meeting primarily focused on promotion of peace and was attended by 290 women from 58 villages.
Assam Rifles donated essential items for the conclave and ensured a secure and peaceful environment for conduct of the event, the PRO informed, adding that an AR representative while addressing the gathering reaffirmed the support of the force in maintaining peace and harmony in the region and towards betterment of communities.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles distributed fishing nets to fishermen of Thanga village in Bishnupur district on Thursday with the aim to improve the income of the fishermen and also promote sustainable fishing in the Loktak Lake.
An awareness drive was also conducted amongst the local populace about the importance of Loktak Lake and the need to keep it clean and for pollution free to safeguard the marine ecosystem, the PRO informed.
Considering the limited healthcare facilities, Assam Rifles also organised a comprehensive medical camp at Gomi village in Tengnoupal district on Thursday.
The event garnered an overwhelming response from Gomi and nearby villages of Tengnoupal district with over 115 residents availing the medical services, including consultations, check-ups and medicines.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles provided emergency medical assistance to an 18-year old female from Kwakta village in Bishnupur district who sustained a blunt head injury.
The victim was immediately rendered vital medical care and the wound was stitched, thereby stabilising her condition, the PRO added.
