Workshop on 'women empowerment' held

Imphal, April 28 2025: A one-day capacity-building workshop on "Empowering Women in Leadership for Equitable Decision Making' was organised by Koireng Youth Organisation, Manipur (KYOM) under the sponsorship of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) at Longa Koireng village community hall on Monday.

The event was attended by MSCW chairperson Thumlip Timngpham Monsang, members T Chuongsin Koireng and Sk Sophia Moyon, KYOM president R Ngirsoreng Boypu Koireng, and Longa Koireng village chief SR Choungam Koireng as presidium members.

A technical session conducted in connection with the workshop had advocate Kh Jacky, Child Welfare Committee, Tengnoupal District member secretary Darngam Khaling, PM-FME district resource person Napolean Shaiza and SBI, Babupara branch manager Adahrii Mao as the resource persons.

Speaking on the occasion, Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang noted that although women contribute 50 per cent of the societal progress, their participation in decision-making processes is very limited.

She also stressed the need for women to participate in decision-making to help the society stride towards development, Around 100 women from Longa Koireng and nearby villages attended the programme.
