Wings of Hope Charitable Trust launches SHG for widows

The Wings of Hope Charitable Trust has inaugurated a "SelfHelp Group Skill Training Centre" at Sana Janmasthan Club of Keishamthong, Imphal.
The centre will provide skill training to 30 widows and less privileged women trainees, who are victims of the Manipur conflict, said the Trust in a statement today.
The women hail from Khumbong, Sanjem Chirang, Khurkhul, Pangei, Itham-Nungoi, Oksu Ningthemcha, Takhel, Salungpham, Kakching Khunou, Pangaltabi, Serou etc.
They will be given training on tailoring, Kouna (water reed) craft, crochet doll and scented candle making.
On completion of the skill training in about a month, the trainees will be given material and machines necessary to begin "Neighbourhood Micro level Production Centres" at their localities.
Notably, the Trust is supporting the education (upto Class XII) of 58 children (27 boys & 31 girls) of 35 widows.
Out of the 58 students, 3 girls and one boy have cleared the Class XII examinations with good grades.
They have been encouraged with cash rewards, said the Trust.
President of the Charitable Trust, retired Lt Col L Manongba has meanwhile expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the benevolent donors and well wishers from all across the country, specially to the "friends from the Armed Forces" .
