Imphal, June 24 2025:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), North East in-charge Rajesh Sharma launched tirade against BJP accusing it of inciting tension, violence and hatred among communities.
He also alleged that the saffron party is better known nowadays as a 'violence monger'.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, Tuesday, Rajesh said there is high chance of eruption of communal violence in any state ruled by BJP with Manipur a clear example of BJP's communal politics.
"In the name of community or religion, BJP orchestrates violence and hatred and the same was done to Manipur, where there is no sight of resolution to the crisis even after two years," Rajesh Sharma said.
Alleging further that BJP government is unreliable, the AAP leader lamented that there is no free movement in Manipur for more than two years and farmers are unable to cultivate in their own land despite government's assurance.
According to Rajesh Sharma, AAP had raised issues of Manipur particularly the ongoing violence in the Parliament repeatedly and even organised protests.
As AAP continues to stand with the people of Manipur, the party has visited some relief camps where people displaced by the violence since May, 2023 are taking shelter.
"It was painful to witness conditions of displaced people staying in a relief camp at Kakching Khunou where the party paid visit on Monday," he said, adding that government must look into the sufferings of the displaced people at relief camps and make arrangements for safe return to their native places.
Attending the press conference, AAP Manipur state coordinator Biswanath Thingnam said that AAP has been assessing the situation of Manipur since the eruption of the violence on May 3, 2023 .
He contended that although illegal immigrants have been identified as one of the main causes for the violence, no step is visible for deportation of these illegal immigrants yet.
He also demanded clarity on the series of talks held between MHA and Kuki-Zo CSOs as well as with SoO groups.
Biswanath then cautioned the present President's Rule administration against making the people of Manipur scapegoat by prolonging the violence to achieve the Centre's goal, urging the state government to rather work towards bringing back peace and normalcy.
